Parnu Open’2011 (2nd tournament of BST’2011)
Parnu Open’2011 was played during a fantastic sunny weekend May 7-8.
It has started with Doubles competition on Friday, where Iosif Yusim from Russia together with Finnish player Veli Berglund performed the best, scoring 56. They were followed by Lithuanian couples – Gabrielius Gricius together with his farther Darius scored 58, adn Tadas Uselis/Pranciskus Gricius had 59.
Total 34 players participated in Parnu tournament, which made it second biggest Baltic Sea Tour tournament ever.
MA2 division – Pranciskus Gricius finished first again (like in Vilnius few weeks ago). This result makes him a strong overall leader in BST in MA2 division. Second place was share (after unfortunate miscalculation on Annika’s scorecard) by Estonian players – Annika Proos and Paul Kustala.
Open division had 24 participants. After 3 rounds the best five players played spectacular final. Einar Elbing playing on home course was trying to close the 4 points gap to the leader Marcus Raberg, while other 3 players were fighting for the 3rd position. After really tough game Veli Berglund (Finland) managed to keep his 3rd position, beating another Finnish player – Aleksi Ahtila by 1 point, who also stayed ahead of Gabrielius Gricius (Lithuania) by 1 point. Despite some mistakes made by Marcus Raberg during the final, he kept his leadership over Einar Elbing in the final, solving everything with his fantastic drive on the last hole – 150 meters downhill drive right under the basket!
Congratulations to all winners!
