Polva Open’2011 (5th tournament of BST’2011)
Polva Open’2011 was played during weekend 13-14 August at a fantastic Estonian Maeotsa discgolf course.
It has started with Doubles competition on a rainy Friday, with a new format of pick-up (lottery draw) pairs. Olli Lipponen (Finland) and Rasmus Sepp (Estonia) played the best scoring 52.
Total 28 players participated in Polva tournament.
MA2 division – Pranciskus Gricius finished first again (4th tournament out of 5 this year in the Tour). Second place was shared Estonian players – Einar Sauk and Paul Kustala. Einar has won a sudden death competition for second place trophies.
Open division had 23 participants. Nobody could reach last year’s Tour winner Ville Piippo, who won convincingly playing -19 under par. Another Finnish player Veli Berglund played solid rounds too, and comfortably finished in second position (-7). It was an important victory for Veli which put him in a leaders position in overall Tour. His “rivals” for overall winner are Gabrielius Gricius (Lithuania) and Einar Elbing (Estonia), who both were 1 point behind the final, and finished tied on 6th position. The biggest fight was going on for 3rd position in the tournament. Olli Lipponen (Finland) managed to reach Rene Mengel (Estonia) during the final, winning two points back. During sudden death Olli won a 3rd place trophy from Rene, who played his best tournament this year.
Congratulations for all winners!
